Hollow block height depends on span and loads. Here are the key points to know before ordering for a villa or an apartment building.

The beam-and-block floor is the most common floor in Morocco. Choosing the hollow block height comes first: it sets the possible span, the floor thickness and the amount of concrete.
The three standard heights
- 12 cm: short spans, canopies, small extensions.
- 16 cm: the standard height for villa and two-storey house floors.
- 20 cm: long spans, apartment buildings, heavily loaded floors.
What drives the choice
- Span: the distance between two supports. The longer it is, the thicker the floor.
- Loads: housing, shops, storage, flat roofs.
- The engineer’s drawings: they set the height, beam spacing and topping slab.
A floor must be designed. If in doubt, send us your drawings: our technical team proposes the layout free of charge.
Estimating quantities
With 60 cm beam spacing and 20 cm long blocks, allow about 8.5 hollow blocks per m². Use our floor calculator for a first estimate, then request an accurate quote.
